Our History

Interact was set up as part of Electric Rainbow Arts (ERA) in 1994 and was one of a group of weekly drama and music workshops held in the Harrogate and Craven area. Historically the group has aimed to include people with a range of learning, sensory and physical needs.

Interact, as part of ERA, took part in performances that included ‘The Elements’ which was performed at Menwith Hill, ‘Making your Voice Heard’ at a conference in York and a huge inter-group performance called ‘Voice of the People’ at Ripon Cathedral, an event that drew people from all over the region.

Electric Rainbow Arts ceased trading in 1998 but Interact went on to become a charity in its own right, and to run ongoing weekly drama groups, and has carried on to perform many shows ever since.

More recent performances of Interact have included ‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘Wizard of Oz’ and extracts from musicals including ‘Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat’. Interact celebrates its 22nd anniversary in 2016.
